GDPR | General Data Protection Regulation

In 2016, the European Union adopted the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). GDPR becomes enforceable on May 25th, 2018, which will replace the EU Data Protection Directive 1995 in each EU country.

Compliance is mandatory for any company that deals with the data of EU citizens, regardless of whether or not companies have a business presence in the EU. These new regulations are intended to help people stay in control of their personal information.

What is GDPR? 

As a property management system service provider, Frontdesk Anywhere provides Software as a Service to hotel owners and property managers (collectively, Frontdesk Anywhere customers). Our customers routinely provide to us personal data, and it is our commitment that such data be maintained in a secure environment that is compliant with GDPR.

We believe our current practices regarding privacy are strong, and Frontdesk Anywhere regards GDPR as an opportunity to strengthen our existing commitment to protecting customer data.Keeping our customer data secure is one of our highest priorities.

We are continuously enhancing the security of our systems to ensure that we collect and process data in compliance with GDPR. We will be making updates to our Privacy Policy to make it easier for you to understand what information we collect, why we collect it, what our customers can do with it, and how we use it.

Our commitment to GDPR compliance

Under GDPR, hotels that collect and manage guest data (including, but not limited to, names, email addresses, credit card numbers, and IP addresses) from EU-based guests would be “Data Controllers” under GDPR and subject to its regulation.

Frontdesk Anywhere is committed to making its software GDPR compliant. This commitment does not extend to individual hotels data collection or websites.

It is advisable that hotels to work with legal counsel and/or privacy consultants to determine how they handle contacts.
